Indeed. Looks like it was defused. Excellent work of Pakistany government and military I tend to say.

Looks like this is going to de-escalate, gonna take a break for a while from keeping up with the news, will check back here later today.

I'm not so sure about that. The Hindu nationalists are fiercely demanding that Modi retaliate. Modi is acutely aware that he relies on this same group of people to turn out for him in the upcoming general election.

From Luisport over at the other site :

#UPDATE: Indian Air Force "happy" pilot is being released, however "we see it only as a gesture in accordance with Geneva conventions"

Doesn't sound like they're letting this slide.

One example of many similar tweets from Indians on twitter, they see the whole incident as an embarrasment for Modi and India:

@rupasubramanya
1h1 hour ago

This does not look good for @narendramodi and if this is where matters end, it shows Pakistan outplayed him brilliantly with @ImranKhanPTI coming across as a statesman. So far hard to see how Modi has reaped any political gains...

This round of the perception war won hands down by @ImranKhanPTI  esp given attack emanated from Pak based group! So far India unable to show devastation caused by bombing across LoC. Pak captured our pilot & now say he’ll be released. Need to ask if we could have managed better.

You have to be a dumb partisan to believe this was a diplomatic win for Modi. The US intervened and saved the days because the Paks were willing to play ball. Pak announces release even before MoD can issue a briefing calling for his release. Embarrassing.

After Kandahar, I’ve never been  this embarrassed at India’s management of the situation post Pulwama and being outplayed at every turn. Modi has two choices: let the matter rest, or further escalate. On weak ground on the latter.

@donkeypost

Now it seems that it was India's fault that we lost soldiers in Pulwama

@rupasubramanya
48m48 minutes ago

We failed to act on intelligence that was available. Plenty of warnings available. Terrorists are going to carry out attacks but upto us to prevent them as much as possible.

@donkeypost

Government has no clue regarding long term strategy, policy regarding the strike. It is sheer incompetence of the nincompoops running the government that they allowed armed forces personnel to be cannon fodder to fulfill their political ambitions.

Narendra Modi directly responsible for Pulwama attack, claims Indian Central Minister

Ms. Banerjee asked why the Prime Minister did not play a pro-active role in stopping the attack.

“You [Mr. Modi] knew that the attack would take place. Intelligence input was there. But they [jawans] were neither airlifted, nor was there any naka checking or road checking. Everyone was allowed to move freely. Why? In order to take advantage during the election. Now Modi is trying play a game of war,” Ms. Banerjee said.

“They [BJP] are calling people and offering money to join the party. Where is this money coming from,” Ms. Banerjee said.

She also accused the BJP of instigating Hindus against the Muslims.

Opinion - Imran Khan extends the hand of diplomacy – but India’s far-right are spoiling for war

Far away from the backpackers, yoga retreats and call centres modern India is famous for, there is another India – and it is ready for conflict

While the world’s attention was focused on nuclear threats from Iran and North Korea, one of the oldest and most unpredictable nuclear relationships has flared up: India and Pakistan. India’s recent airstrikes deep inside Pakistani territory, and Pakistan’s downing of Indian fighter jets, may become the subcontinent’s “Archduke Ferdinand” moment.

While Pakistan’s struggle with Islamist movements is well known, India’s recent history of swinging to the far right is less publicised – but no less dangerous.

For some time Mein Kampf has been one of the bestselling foreign titles in India. With the rise of the right-wing BJP government, Hindutva politics – what some would call Indian fascism – has permeated many parts of Indian society.

As the belief spreads that India is first and foremost a Hindu state, hate crimes such as Muslim men being murdered for eating beef (cows are sacred to many Hindus) are an almost daily occurrence. And any Hindu girl rumoured to be entertaining any romantic interest in a Muslim boy will likely find her life is in danger.

We often forget India’s capacity for ethno-terror: the deadliest terrorist attack before 9/11 was by an Indian Sikh group.

This goes right to the top. Prime minister Narendra Modi, famous for his warm diplomatic hugs, is a reported member of the RSS paramilitary group, the closest western equivalent of which is the Ku Klux Klan. Due to his role in the anti-Muslim Gujarat riots – that led to more than 1000 Muslim deaths – Modi was also banned from visiting the UK, the US and many countries in Europe.

RSS and their allies have popularised “Saffron terror” – the idea Hindu nationalists must conduct terrorist attacks to preserve the Hindu character of India. This is a tradition that goes back to 1948 when an RSS member assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. More recently, Modi’s brethren in the group have incited anti-Muslim riots, attacked mosques and even put a price on the head of Christian pastors in the eastern Indian state of Orissa.

Missile shown by Indian generals appears to be one sold to Taiwan

As New Delhi presented what it claimed was ‘incontrovertible proof’ that Pakistan used its F-16 fighter jets in Wednesday’s air action, a fact-checking exercise by The Express Tribune revealed that the missile remains the Indian military found could belong to a missile sold by the US to Taiwan.

India’s top military brass on Thursday displayed the remains of an American-made missile as ‘absolute proof’ that the Pakistan Air Force used F-16s in aerial operations conducted the day before. Claiming that the missile could only have been launched by an F-16, the Indian generals tried to strengthen their claims that the Indian Air Force also shot down a PAF F-16 while losing a MiG-21.

A report revealed that contract number FA867505C0070 corresponded to a batch of AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles supplied to Taiwan in a Foreign Military Sale worth $2.38 million.
