Two cities in Jilin province (North East of China, former Manchuria) are under lockdown for two weeks now.  

Did it stop the infection spread?

Plain and simple: yes.
Chinese lockdown means 100% of the people test daily or twice a day. This means on the first day, the number of cases is exploding. Then, because nobody can move, the number of cases stable and goes down slowly.

sounds like natural immunity. especially if there are no re-infections. good.

All infected people (most are asymptomatic) get isolated immediately. Our whole campus is closed. All the workers are now sleeping in the dining halls. The University has handed out matrasses. They cannot go home. They cook for the students and deliver the food from the dining halls to the dormitories. The teaching buildings are closed. The gym is a permanent test station.

I see more a problem, if Shanghai or Shenzhen is under lockdown, the global supply lines will be interrupted. Even North East China is important because of the car factories. They produce cars for Western companies. This will interrupt the deliveries.

One of the most overlooked aspects of the Ukraine war is how the United States got Germany to abandon neutrality,
and do what NATO & Trump always wanted: increase defense spending to 2% GDP. Germany will now spend more on its military than Russia.
