It was last battle before ceasefire took the place. It's known as "Debaltseve cauldron" as well. Large numbers of Kive's troops were captured or eliminated. Kiev troops were pushed back and the town of Debaltseve was taken by Donbass militias. At the midnight ceasefire declared.





There was pretty insane video of Kiev troops fleeing on their APCs and as mortar shells and rockets fall all around them. I can't find it now but surely I have it on my HDD...

I had no idea about this. So my memory must come from somewhere else, and I had a look into the history of this town. Originally it just was a railway-station. The workers there were the first ones to go on strike during the 1905 revolution (Bloody Sunday, Stolypin etc.). During WW I the place was occupied by Austria-Hungary and the Bolshviks had problems getting it back. During WW II the Germans had serious street-fights in the town. There must be something remembering this, especially the strikes leading to the revolution in 1905, maybe some music or movie.

What is the difference beween -o and -e? In the Cyrillic script, it's clearly an -o.
