The Kiev regime, with the support of the United States and European countries, is completing the preparation of a large-scale information provocation ("great event") to accuse the Russian Federation before the start of the eleventh emergency special session of the UN General Assembly on February 22 this year of allegedly "gross violation" of the obligations of the Convention on Nuclear Safety during a special military operation. 

To this end, representatives of the Kiev regime plan to present to the world community some "weighty evidence" allegedly confirming that "as a result of the actions of Russian servicemen at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and in the "exclusion zone" in February – April 2022, "radioactive contamination of significant territories of Ukraine" occurred.  

The main purpose of the large-scale provocation of the Kiev regime is to create a negative background and exert political pressure on the leadership of countries that do not support Western sanctions against Russia to ensure their "correct" vote in the UN in support of the Kiev "formula of peace", as well as the next initiatives on the illegal confiscation of Russian assets abroad to "support Ukraine". and the creation of a certain "international tribunal". 

Specialists of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Directorate have been involved in the preparation of the "documentary basis" and the so-called "independent conclusion" on the alleged "effects of radiation on the population of the north and north-west of the Kiev region". 

The practical implementation of a large-scale information provocation began at the end of January 2023 with the formal referral to the European Coordination Center for Disaster Response of the official request of the Kiev regime for the supply of 66 thousand sets of special protective clothing, 20 million (!) civilian gas masks, as well as chemical reconnaissance devices, dosimeters and a wide range of antidotes to Ukraine. 

At present, Norwegian experts have conducted a "survey" of the terrain in the areas adjacent to the Kiev – Pripyat highway, as well as in the settlements of Bucha, Gostomel and Irpen, where, together with representatives of the Ukrainian special services, falsified protocols were drawn up for the alleged presence of "radioactive contamination" of these territories. 

In addition, on the basis of fabricated "surveys" of Chernobyl NPP personnel, fake "evidence" is being prepared for the alleged "plundering by Russian servicemen of radioactive materials, chemical solutions and equipment contaminated with radiation" and the export by Russian troops of "items containing dangerous radionuclides" outside the "exclusion zone", which entailed "irradiation of the population of temporarily occupied territories".  

Representatives of local self-government bodies, who allegedly recorded a "surge in appeals from the population with signs of radiation damage" and medical institutions in the Kiev region, who presented fake "medical histories of victims", were also involved in the formation of the necessary "evidence base".

Since January 2023, at least two IAEA inspectors have been present at the station on a permanent basis, who monitor the radiation situation in real time.
