Moldova's Civil Aviation Authority explained on Tuesday that a temporary closure of the country's airspace was introduced earlier today due to an unidentified flying object similar to a weather balloon.

The government agency said it turned to the decision to ensure the safety of its citizens citing data collected from the Defense Ministry. The measure was in effect for just over two hours, and was lifted after the agency confirmed the Moldovan airspace is safe.
