Vietnam's president resigned 

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has resigned from office. His resignation was endorsed by the Vietnamese Communist Party’s Central Committee, which held they meeting today. Along with that, Nguyen Xuan Phuc ceased to be a Politburo member.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s resignation is linked with the corruption scandals in the government. According to the Party, Phuc must bear the “political responsibility of the leader” as many officials, including two Deputy Prime Ministers and three ministers, had committed violations and shortcomings, causing very serious consequences. These people were working under the ex-president.

Diplomatic scandal between the Philippines and Ukraine

In a rare turn, a Ukrainian diplomat was forced to apologize to Manila. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs considered Denys Mykhailiuk’s phrases of contempt towards being “seenzoned” by the President of the Philippines to be “bad diplomatic practice”. This small but albeit rare scandal for Asia comes against the background of a neutral Philippines decrying being forced into a “Cold War mentality” over the conflict in Ukraine. 

The last thing the Philippines needs is to take sides because of the negative impact that will have on its own interests in the Pacific and on relations with China. Nevertheless, a strong pro-US camp in the archipelago nation is continuously lobbying the President for further alignment with the West. The creation of a new sovereign wealth fund that is supposed to be conduit for Western money into the Philippine may well add steam to the pressure cooker.

The adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, Oleksiy Arestovich, launched a fierce attack on V. Zelensky, calling him an idiot and accusing him of declaring war on Christianity. The "knives came out" within the Ukrainian leadership.

Does he know anything? Is he afraid (shitting his pants?) of what is coming and what will his future hold?  Probably yes.

Earlier today, Arestovich resigned after being criticized for saying that Ukraine had shot down a Russian missile that hit an apartment building in Dnipro, killing dozens of people.

John Barclay, in his prophetic novel Argenis (1621), defined the paradigm of security , which European governments were later to gradually adopt, as follows: "Either give people their freedom, or give them security, for which they will give up freedom." Freedom and security are thus two opposing paradigms of governance, between which the state has to make a new decision every time. If he wants to promise security to his subjects, the sovereign must sacrifice their freedom, and vice versa, if he wants freedom, he must sacrifice their security. However, Michel Foucault has shown how to understand security (la sureté publique), which the physiocratic governments, starting with Quesnay, were the first to explicitly include among their tasks in 18th-century France. At that time – just as today - it was not a question of preventing catastrophes, which in the Europe of those years consisted mainly of famines, but of first allowing them to happen, then intervening immediately and taking them in the direction that was useful to them. Interesting thoughts, especially in light of today's developments. Especially the question of whose safety it is. For cattle, it's all about freedom in an enclosure and the certainty that they are to be slaughtered. 

I can no longer hear the chatter of the idiots that we are citizens or even "the sovereign". You might get the idea if you live on a little more than an average income. At least I know from the past that ordinary people do not consider themselves to be "citizens", unless they have been lied to about it at school.
