That's close to me but I'm not surprised cause I got rain all the time, its not even summer anymore. Rain and humidity and lightning storms but its good cause I don't have to water the garden every day which is always pain in the ass.

Scandinavia unprepared for worst drought in 74 years as wildfires rage

Weeks of high temperatures and virtually no rain have left much of Scandinavia dangerously dry.

Wildfires are raging and Sweden has called on other European countries to help fight them. Italy, France and Norway have sent aircraft to supplement Sweden's helicopters in fighting the flames.

Residents were evacuated from Gavleborg, Jamtland and Dalarna counties as 44 wildfires burned in the middle of Sweden. The largest fire in Fagelsjo-Lillasen in Jamtland covers more than 2,500 hectares.

Starving livestock

It is Sweden's worst drought since 1944 and after a very cold winter, pasture has failed to grow to provide enough grazing for livestock. Despite emergency imports of fodder, cattle and sheep are having to be slaughtered to avoid death by starvation.

Sweden was not alone in being unprepared for this hot weather. Norway, Finland and western Russia have all experienced unusually hot-and-dry conditions.

Murmansk, on Russia's Kola Peninsula near the Arctic Circle, on Thursday registered 32 degrees Celsius, 17 degrees above normal. It was not quite a record, but only short by 0.7C.

Bardufoss, on Norway's northern coast, was 33.5C on Wednesday - a new July temperature record that beat the old one by nearly 2C.

WEATHER: Denmark is experiencing their worst drought in over 100 years. Sweden & Norway are experiencing dry conditions as well, with wildfires raging across the southern parts of the countries. Very dry conditions in the U.K also. Northern Europe is currently warmer than normal.

For me todays threat of thunderstorms has passed without a single drop of rain. I don't think there has been a single drop for maybe 2 months now and next week is set to be the hottest week yet and now the humidity will increase too! I have deep ruts forming in the gardens. This week, there were wild fires just a mile away but was under control very quickly. Insurance companies are braced for big subsidence claims, with the ground so dry causing houses to 'drop'.

UK weather: HOTTEST week of 2018 ahead as driest summer for 57 YEARS confirmed [/i]

There was also a wildfire at Wanstead flats, which isn't too far away from where I am. https://www.theguardian.com/weather/video/2018/jul/16/epping-forest-fire-tackled-by-more-than-225-firefighters-video

Had a tiny bit of rain today, but the forecast is now showing dry weather for the next few weeks...

Afaik it's the driest first half of summer on record, since the records only go back 57 years.

'Turn the taps off' to stop drought, Welsh Water pleads

People are being urged to turn off the tap while brushing their teeth as Welsh Water calls on customers to help safeguard supplies.

The public is also being asked to make sure dishwashers and washing machines are full before being used, to take a short shower rather than a bath and to avoid watering the garden.

Japan heatwave: Warnings issued amid scorching temperatures

People across Japan have been urged to take precautions against a heatwave that has killed about 30 people.

Thousands more have sought hospital treatment for heat-related conditions over the past two weeks.

Temperatures reached 40.7C (105F) in central Japan earlier this week, a five-year nationwide peak.

In the city of Kyoto temperatures have stood above 38C (100.4F) for seven days in a row for the first time since records began in the 19th Century.

Next week could be the hottest day of the year [in the UK], with forecasters predicting temperatures of up to 45 degrees in the South East.

Weather WARNING: Hundreds admitted to hospital for SUNBURN as UK heatwave rages on

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/992298/UK-weather-warning-forecast-heatwave-hot-July-2018-Met-Office-sunburn-hospital

erm, I think they mean 35 degrees. Although some are suggested UK could get highest ever recorded temperatiure in the next week, above 38.5C. I'm surprised most parts of the UK don't already have hosepipe bans because if it continues there could be big problems. Wind power has been greatly affected too as it is so still. Add in failing crops and the cost of living will go up massively.

Blame Russia because it may accelerate end of sanctions and prop up Russian agri-cultural exports...

The GFS medium term forecast is for the first time this summer showing the 20C+ Isotherm spreading over large swathes of Western Europe. If the forecast holds then we will likely see temperature records tumbling; perhaps in excess of 40c in France and in excess of 38c in the UK at some time during the first week of August.

As I already wrote there is unusual drought, too. This is one of biggest Czech rivers, Labe, now:

A few dry years already and could extend for two decades  affraid . Article is from May, too:

https://www.seznamzpravy.cz/clanek/sucho-tu-muze-vydrzet-dalsich-20-let-znalci-vysvetlili-duvody-48232

Compared to the UK, a one year drought or more would cause massive problems. UK water management is so bad that the historically wettest part of England has become the first this year to have water restrictions imposed. And so far the drought has only been here for 2-3 months.
