Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine
IX. External and Internal Security
The Ukrainian SSR has the right to its own armed forces.
The Ukrainian SSR has its own internal armies and bodies of state security subordinated to the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR.
The Ukrainian SSR determines procedures for military service by citizens of the Republic.
Citizens of the Ukrainian SSR perform their military service, as a rule, on the territory of the Republic, and cannot be used for military purpose beyond its borders without the consent of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR.
The Ukrainian SSR solemnly declares its intention of becoming a permanently neutral state that does not participate in military blocs and adheres to three nuclear free principles: to accept, to produce and to purchase no nuclear weapons.

The principles of the Declaration of the Sovereignty of Ukraine are used for preparation of a new union agreement.
Passed by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic
Kyiv, July 16, 1990

This - especially the bold-faced type - was the basis of good relations between Russia and Ukraine as the Soviet Union dissolved. Ukraine altered the relations by engaging to join NATO.
It is **not** "illegal" for Russia to defend itself from having NATO missiles placed on Ukrainian soil with a five minute flight time to Moscow, or a ten minute flight time to Russia's strategic nuclear missile silos.
The United States set that precedent in 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. You may recall that the then-Soviet Union placed Medium range and Intermediate Range nuclear missiles on Cuba. They had a five minute flight time to Washington, DC.
Then U.S. President John F. Kennedy said "those missiles have to go. They cannot be there." Kennedy ordered a Naval "Quarantine" to intercept future weapons shipments to Cuba, and began massing troops in Florida for what was going to be an actual invasion of Cuba.
So what Russia is doing with Ukraine HAS legal precedent; the United States set that precedent with Cuba.
Russia is in the right, here. Ukraine, the US, and NATO are in the wrong.
It should be clear to any rational person that NATO is methodically positioning missile sites completely around all of Russia. If the Russians do not put a stop to this, then at some point, there will be so many missiles, in so many places, that Russia can be told, do what we tell you or your entire country will be destroyed in five minutes. Russia won't tolerate that. They HAD to take a stand with Ukraine and did.
I see what Russia is doing as a repeat of what US President Kennedy did in 1963. I think Russia is right and I support Russia.

Yes, I __did__ mess-up the quotation. The original had a lot of other stuff in it that was not material to my remarks, so I apologize to Zambeezi if it seemed I misattributed the remarks to him.
It just galls me to hear the same nonsense about "Russia made an illegal invasion of Ukraine" over and over again. Russia did no such thing.
As an American, I am taking severe heat for my views, but my views are based on historical facts.
Ukraine seems to want to ignore history and facts, to do whatever it wants. NATO as well. This is not how the real world works.
Now, hundreds of thousands are dead, all because NATO wants missiles on Ukraine territory - aimed at Russia - and Russia says "no."

This platform doesn't work well with multiple quotes overall. Not very user friendly.
regarding the topic - we should not forget that it was mater of agreement between Russian Federation and western countries, in early 90s, that NATO will not expand in eastern direction. In return Russian Federation allowed seamless re-unification of Berlin. Since then, western powers, and NATO, did everything possible to break the deal and ignored endless warnings made by Russian officials.

Bank for International Settlements Presents Dystopian Plan for New Monetary System with Central Bank Digital Money
https://norberthaering.de/geldsystem/bis-cbdc-annual-report-2023/
"Bank for International Settlements presents dystopian plan for new monetary system with Central Bank digital money
23. 07. 2023 / The Bank for International Settlements, which coordinates the work of Western countries on Central Bank digital money, has published a blueprint of the envisaged new monetary system with central bank digital currencies. This makes one shudder and exposes the pretentiousness of the EU Commission and the European Central Bank with regard to the digital euro.
In its annual report, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has published a kind of blueprint for the future monetary system that it and the central banks are aiming for. It should use the possibilities of digital technologies and the planned digital central bank money.
In a short version, the BIS describes it like this:
"A novel financial market infrastructure – a unified ledger - could take full advantage of tokenization by combining central bank money, tokenized deposits and tokenized assets on one programmable platform.“
The key concepts here are tokenization and unified ledger and programmability.
...
For example, the Central Bank of Nigeria recently announced that it wants to give additional programmability to the already circulating eNaira. The users (meaning the state) should be given the opportunity to restrict the usability of transferred eNaira. As an example, the possibility is mentioned for the government to program in loans or subsidies to farmers for the purchase of seeds or machines that only such products can be paid with the money. According to the Central Bank, it can also be programmed that the money can be spent only in certain places or in certain regions.
... "
...........
Who likes the idea of this dystopia? In the end, all that remains is the solution like the answer to "then they should eat cake after all". They want to clog up all the loopholes and retreats for a slightly self-determined life. And the propaganda is running at full speed that as many people as possible also find this good.

Re: #123 - Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
This was reported by journalist Vitaly Glagola in Telegram.
According to him, the accident happened on the road N-09 Mukachevo - Rakhiv - Ivano-Frankivsk - Lviv.
Previously, during the collapse of the bridge, 2 cars were damaged: a Skoda passenger car with Polish registration and a truck. There were 5 people in the car. 1 woman is in serious condition. A total of 3 victims. Another passenger was not seriously injured. The truck driver was uninjured.
For a long time, the bridge was considered an emergency. It was supposed to be repaired in 2021 under the "Big Construction" program. At the time, the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration reported that the period of reconstruction of the bridge would last two years.
At the moment, traffic in this area is paralyzed. All traffic is diverted.

Re: #123 - Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
1991 Soviet Union referendum - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Soviet_Union_referendum
But the August coup attempt by hardliners of the Communist Party prevented the anticipated signing of the new Union Treaty a day later. Although it failed, the coup attempt reduced confidence in Gorbachev's central government. It was followed by a series of referendums for independence in individual republics and led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union on 26 December 1991.
Dissolution of the Soviet Union was never legal. All states created after the dissolution of the Soviet Union have questionable legality (to say at least).
Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_State_Sovereignty_of_Ukraine
And 2 referendums:
1991 Ukrainian sovereignty referendum - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Ukrainian_sovereignty_referendum
1991 Ukrainian independence referendum - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Ukrainian_independence_referendum
These 2 referendum had different questions that were opposite to each other. And were honest and impartial in the same way that Biden won US elections against Trump. Legally, it is a mess. And nothing of it can be considered legal.
But, let us get into what you have stated:
ShockJock wrote:Actually, your statement of "facts" has convenient omissions. I respectfully provide the following:

INTENT Definition & Legal Meaning = In criminal law and the law of evidence. Purpose; formulated design ; a resolve to do or forbear a particular act; aim; determination. In its literal sense, the stretching of the mind or will towards a particular object. . “Intent” expresses mental action at its most advanced point, or as it actually accompanies an outward, corporal act which has been determined on- Intent shows the presence of will in the act which consummates a crime. Intent does not mean 'agreements', 'conventions', `protocols' or `covenants'. You do understand difference in meaning ? If a person intends to do something, and he does not do it, then you can not kill him for it. Intention is different from legally bonding agreement.

The existence of a state of war must be notified to the neutral Powers without delay, and shall not take effect in regard to them until after the receipt of a notification, which may, however, be given by telegraph. Neutral Powers, nevertheless, cannot rely on the absence of notification if it is clearly established that they were in fact aware of the existence of a state of war.
What Russian Federation did is not legal. In any legal sense. That is aggression without declaring war on the other country.
And this is true. I am not arguing that the Russian Federation does not have grave (justified) concerns. I also think that it is obvious that NATO is trying to get into position to encircle Russian Federation and destroy it (preferably) from within.ShockJock wrote:
It should be clear to any rational person that NATO is methodically positioning missile sites completely around all of Russia. If the Russians do not put a stop to this, then at some point, there will be so many missiles, in so many places, that Russia can be told, do what we tell you or your entire country will be destroyed in five minutes. Russia won't tolerate that. They HAD to take a stand with Ukraine and did.
But that is a problem between Russian Federation and NATO ("west"). Russian Federation should deal with this problem with declaring war on NATO (if it wishes so) If Russian Federation thinks that is a case. Ukraine is a sovereign country. That was unprovoked attack. There were no military operations from Ukraine army in Russian Federation before the start of hostilities. Just to clarify what I mean with unprovoked. New Russia is an internal Ukraine problem. And Putin was treating it as such for years.
Putin (and Russian Federation) are hypocrites.
I can understand your point of view. But US President Kennedy destroyed Cuban economy with illegal economic blockade, among other things.ShockJock wrote:
I see what Russia is doing as a repeat of what US President Kennedy did in 1963. I think Russia is right and I support Russia.
BTW, you do know that US President Kennedy was a crack head and was high as a kite in time of Cuban Missile Crisis
During his presidency, Kennedy was also treated with a slew of opiate pain killers, local anesthetic (lidocaine) shots for his back pain, tranquilizers such as Librium, amphetamines and stimulants, including Ritalin, thyroid hormones, barbiturate sleeping pills, gamma globulin to stave off infections, as well as the steroid hormones he needed to keep his adrenal insufficiency at bay. According to The New York Times, during the Cuban missile crisis in October of 1962, the president was prescribed “antispasmodics to control colitis; antibiotics for a urinary infection; and increased amounts of hydrocortisone and testosterone along with salt tablets to control his adrenal insufficiency and boost his energy.”

Mass attack of "Geraniums" on Kiev: drones enter the city from three sides: South, West and East.
First, powerful explosions were reported in the Kiev region, also air defence work. Later new wave of UAVs was seen coming from the south.
UPD: Russian aviation over Zaporozhye and the region. Probability of using guided and gliding bombs
