Probably also a reminiscence of the Monday demonstrations in the GDR. Since these are spontaneous "walks", nothing is announced beforehand or registered as a demonstration, so it cannot be banned by the courts. No rioters can be smuggled in and the police are also not prepared for them.

This is complete nonsense. When I walk as a Westerner in the month of Ramadan through a street in Egypt, I cannot escape getting invited to Ramadan dinner, even when they see, that I am not a Muslim.
