Continuation of my estimation of the most likely scenario in Afghanistan:
1. The Taliban try to connect the areas, they have.
They try to close the border to Turmenistan:

This is necessary, to block any support for Mazar-i-Sharif and Dostum. The Tadjik border is not so necessary, because the Tadjiks and Russians are guarding this border.
2. The road from Mazar-i-Sharif and Kunduz to Kabul is blocked already, the Taliban have occupied the pass.

And most important the road from Kabul to Peshawar via Jalalabad is not yet in their possession.
