One should bear in mind that mortality at >80 rises to values of ~5-10 %. With an increase in the age cohort of >80 by 1 million, >50,000 more deaths are to be expected, without any "cause", whether corona or not. And since 2016, the number of >80-year-olds in Germany has risen by almost 1 million.

If this doesn't exist in your countries, Bern Marten is a software engineer, but maybe you know a mathematician or statistician you can put to work, or with a little brainpower, time and good equipment you can do it yourself and perhaps publish it.

Everything is perfectly fine. I am living on site (on campus ). It's Chinese New Year, so all students are at home with their families. And yes, we can buy food (once a week). All towns people had a Covid-19-test now and the situation is stable. We hope, we can re-open the school for next term.



Internet is slow during daytime, so I did not have the chance to watch the video in full until now. For now I can only say, that I would call the Han (汉 short form，漢 long form) a dynasty and not a civilisation. Dynasties are coming and going. The poet in the beginning is describing Luoyang, one of the two capitals, after it was burnt down by a war lord. This was no surprise at this time. All Chinese know this time very well from TV-series made from the novel 三国 (short form) 三國 (long form) "Three Kingdoms". Like the contemporary Roman Empire the Chinese Empire was breaking apart, Rome into two parts and China into three parts. After 400 years China could recover, Rome could not.
I do not like the word "civilisation", because it sounds so technical to me. I prefer "culture", because it sounds more organic. This might be a German-English difference.
And there is another problem: the Western term "China" or "Chinese" confuses two complete different things:
(1) 中国，中國, "Middle Kingdom". 国，國 does not say, whether it is ruled by a king or an emperor or the Communist party. Maybe the best translation would be "realm" (German: "Reich"). The people, who are living in this "realm" are 中国人。This is independent from ethnicy or nation. Manchu, Mongols, Tibetans, Uigur etc. are all 中国人.
(2) 汉，漢 "Han". This refers to all dynasties ruled by the house of 刘 "Liu". The most famous one of course ruled all of 中国 between about 220 BC and 220 AD. But there are more smaller dynasties ruled by this family. And it refers to the most important nationality in 中国, the Han-people.
Wrongly, 中国人 and 汉 is both translated into Western languages with "Chinese". This is confusing, but there is a political agenda behind it. Because this huge empire or realm should be cut into pieces.
From this, I would say, to call the Han-dynasty a "civilisation" is misleading. The burning of Luoyang was a disaster, but it was not the end of the culture. The Chinese culture was and is much more than just this dynasty, even if this dynasty was the most defining one.
