(December 3, 2020) Physicists in China challenge Google’s ‘quantum advantage’
A team in China claims to have made the first definitive demonstration of ‘quantum advantage’ (a term that has now largely replaced the earlier ‘quantum supremacy’)
— exploiting the counter-intuitive workings of quantum mechanics to perform computations that would be prohibitively slow on classical computers.
They have used beams of laser light to perform a computation
which had been mathematically proven to be practically impossible on normal computers.
The team achieved within a few minutes what would take half the age of Earth on the best existing supercomputers.
Contrary to Google’s first demonstration of a quantum advantage, performed last year,
their version is virtually unassailable by any classical computer. The results appeared in Science on December 3.
Starting from laser pulses, the researchers encoded the information in the spatial position and the polarization of particular photon states
— the orientation of the photons’ electromagnetic fields. These states were then brought together to interfere with one another
and generate the photon distribution that represents the output. The team used photodetectors capable of registering single photons to measure that distribution,
which in effect encodes the calculations that are so hard to perform classically.
In this way, Pan and colleagues could find solutions to the boson-sampling problem in 200 seconds.
They estimate these would take 2.5 billion years to calculate on China’s TaihuLight supercomputer — a quantum advantage of around 10^14.

This is the first hard evidence of electronic tampering in the November 3 U.S. Presidential Election.

If the courts declare the election VOID in the 28 states which use the same Dominion Voting Software, then a "Contingency Election" must take place in the US House of Representatives, wherein each state gets one vote.
As it stands now, 26 states are controlled by Republicans while 23 states are controlled by Democrats. That puts Trump back in the Presidency for four more years!

Journalists and rich people defined as “high value business travellers” will be made exempt from having to enter a 2 week COVID quarantine
when they return to the UK under new rules announced by the government.

“From 4am on Saturday, people in a number of categories will no longer have to self-isolate upon returning to England,
even if they are travelling from a country not on the travel corridors list,” reports Sky News.

Those categories include journalists, “high value business travellers,” performing arts professionals and wealthy sports stars.

Under current rules, anyone returning from a country not on the UK’s “travel corridor” list
has to self-isolate at home for 14 days or face escalating fines.

Public Health England said the new measures will not raise the risk of domestic transmission of coronavirus.

California: Riverside Sheriff on Governor Newsom’s “Dictatorial Attitude”

The sheriff of California’s fourth-largest county has slammed Gov. Gavin Newsom over the most recent COVID-19 lockdown orders,
and says that his department won’t be “blackmailed, bullied or used as muscle” against residents during the pandemic,
after they were told “there was a potential he would be withholding federal and state funding from counties who did not enforce the orders.”

In a Friday evening video posted to social media… Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco called out Newsom’s “dictatorial attitude toward California residents while dining in luxury, traveling, keeping his business open and sending his kids to in-person private schools,” which he called “extremely hypocritical.”
