An interesting article which puts American soldier deaths at 6800 as of 2015 in Iraq and Afghanistan and Contractor/Mercenary deaths at 6900 as of 2015 but admits the deaths for contractors is much higher than reported. I know thousands of contractors have been killed since 2015 in Afghanistan so is likely over 10,000 death toll now, Contractors are basically unofficial soldiers so the Army death toll is around 20,000 for america but america can hide the contractor deaths from official records, When you consider how small Afghanistan and Iraq are population wise and how poorly armed they were and the 50,000 US trained afghan forces killed and 40,000 US trained iraqi soldiers killed this war on terror has been a disaster for America especially now Iran has biggest influence over Iraq and China over Afghanistan.

A full and accurate accounting of contractor deaths has not yet been done by the Pentagon. Over 6,900 contractors working for the US have been killed in the two war zones. The true number is likely much larger: the majority of US contractors are the citizens of other countries, many of whose deaths appear not to have been reported.
