Hate to say this but if Putin had acted swiftly and decisively at the start of this conflict and gotten rid of the Kiev Puppet regime before the West became involved none of this would be happening, he has given his enemies years to prepare and let them cross so many red lines that the Western intelligence community now thinks he is all bluff....he has created a lot of problems for himself.

that is true. but you have to take into account that he was thinking he is dealing with "partners" from the west. people with whom he can make deals. first thought that he could be dealing with people who do not think of him as a "partner" but temporary obstruction to their goals was in Libya when they killed Gaddafi, that is the moment when he first thought...hmmmm....maybe (((they))) will kill me also if i do not do what (((they))) want. and after euromaidan (a year or two later) he started to prepare. which was pretty hard because russian federation was completely focused on "western partners" and he had to change the whole set up of the country. when he gave a go ahead for invasion of Ukraine, Russian Federation was still not ready. but if it was not done then he thought it would become impossible considering arming of Ukraine by NATO.

Putin made a shitload of mistakes. had catastrophically wrong assessments. Believed "western partners"....a lot of problems were created by him. no doubt about it.

and worse mistake he had was thinking that (((they))) are reasonable and are operating on basis of logic. and now he is in a pickle.
