What is happening? Have they bribed Iran? Is this all a trick to get Russia out of the Mediterranean? What is going on?

Iranian MFA Zarif has arrived in Moscow

Hopefully there will be a positive outcome. Why was the Turkish-Russian-Iranian meeting cancelled? Who is on what side?

It is Sunni VS Shia all over again IMO
Sunni = Egypt...

Turkey is Sunni (Muslim Brotherhood like in Egypt, but there it is illegal again), Iran is 12er Shia so this doesn't work. I have a bad, bad feeling about this. I think they want to turn Egypt against Iran.

my thoughts on the 'sudden' Turk-Iranian alliance....
it's complicated. very.
layers and layers of mutual vs adversarial 'goals'.
sunni v shia is trumped by 'other' (more critical) geo-political interests.
the 'alliance' is certainly temporary. on both parts.

both are simply using the 'other' for different reasons.
Iran's 'reasons' are fairly obvious:
pushback against covert Israeli/Kurd intentions in Erbil and Rojava
pushback against covert Israeli intentions in Mediterranean gas line
pushback using Turk assets against NATO partners (Greece/US) and of course Israel.

It's a gamble of course... allowing Erdo to 'realize' some temporary Ottoman 'gains'..
but it's the exact same 'gamble' that Putin has employed in Syria/Idlib..
keeping the mad sultan on a short leash while using Turk/NATO against itself (and Israel).

I don't 'factor' Egypt nor UAE nor LNA nor 'muslim brotherhood'
or sunni/shia for that matter
as being as significant to Iran...
as their war against US/Zionism.

They are willing to help Turkey in the short game
to blunt Israeli strategies in the long game.
imo.

pushback against covert Israeli/Kurd intentions in Erbil and Rojava
pushback against covert Israeli intentions in Mediterranean gas line
pushback using Turk assets against NATO partners (Greece/US) and of course Israel.

They are willing to help Turkey in the short game
to blunt Israeli strategies in the long game.
imo.

Yes, from an Iranian point of view, I can understand this.
The Brotherhood is irrelevant for Iran.
The Kurds are the common enemy for Iran and Turkey.
Iran could play the Ottoman card, originally brought into the game by Obama.
At least NATO would be confused.

Hopefully the Iranian foreign minister can convince Putin.
Greece could be a problem for Russia. Traditionally they are allies and friends (orthodox Christians).

I would think, Egypt is a proxy for US and Israel in this game.
Maybe even Putin does not trust Haftar.
As far as I see, UN is supporting Tripolis and France, Italy, Egypt are supporting Benghazi now.
Neither Egypt nor Turkey would touch Israel.
It would be interesting to see Egyptian troops East of Euphrates and Turkish-Iranian troops in Iraqi-Kurdistan. Very confusing.

Mistake on my side:

It is still confusing:

Iraqi Parliament condemns the Turkish bombing and calls on the government to find a solution

Yes I do believe Zambezi is correct; the common denominator here is both The Kurds, and Israeli intentions. The Turks and The Iranians have had enough of the two of them. Putin has shown himself very weak regarding these two issues, certainly in they eyes of The Turks and Iranians.

So with this understanding, Turkey and Iran and Syria too will pursue possibly a separate agenda from Putin, which is very understandable. At some point, Putin is going to have to deal hard with Israel, as they work night and day with all their craftiness to frustrate Russia, domestically and internationally. As for Egypt, they can’t be relied upon for anything.
